Metropolitan PHILIP Visits Saint George Orthodox Church

Great Doxology

Great Entrance

Memorial Service

The visit of His Eminence Metropolitan PHILIP to our parish was an incredibly special and historic time in the life of Saint George Church. From start to finish I think the three days with our chief shepherd were a tremendous success for which we give God the glory and offer thanks for the hard work and commitment of you, the parishioners. The Metropolitan commented on more than one occasion what a peaceful weekend it was and how he was thoroughly impressed with the hospitality extended to him and the planning which went into the various events. I would like to take this opportunity to recognize the many people who contributed so much time and energy to the weekend. I always hesitate to list names or groups of people for fear that I will overlook someone. However, all of us need to be recognize the efforts lovingly given by our parishioners (and friends from outside.) A large part of the weekend was dedicated to the Ladies of Saint George and the celebration of their 90th year: the Ladies put together a spectacular banquet which required labors from the organizing committee and those entrusted with decorating, ticketing, the slide show, program, favors, mazza and publicity. Other events during the three day visit of Metropolitan PHILIP included a meeting with the church school and SOYO, Parish Council dinner, Saturday luncheon and of course the divine services. These events all went off flawlessly, thanks to those to cooked and served meals, those who cleaned and decorated at the church, our youth leaders, the ushers, the choir and chanters, our altar servers, coffee hour organizers and each of you who offered your God-pleasing prayers. I am thankful for you all. Keep up the great work.

- Father Joseph
